The girls seek out a nearby tremor on Youkai Mountain, which occurred after a flash of light fell from heaven. However, it turns out to have been a misunderstanding - a raiju named Raiko who took the meteors as a signal to play. A real meteor falls toward the northern plateau, and the girls chase after it, meeting a youkai they believe is responsible as she is the first to arrive. The youkai, Mai, was only hunting a meteor for personal use, and suggests they look up to find where the meteors are falling from.

Flying up into the clouds, the girls are accosted by two representatives of "heaven," Venus and Akumi, who announce that they should go back where they came from and challenge the girls' strength when they refuse. Akumi reveals the place in the skies from whence they were sent, and the girls seek out the mysterious starlight staircase. However, a youkai named Rin has been enjoying the meteor showers and doesn't want anyone taking away her entertainment. She blocks the staircase to force the issue.

Defeating Rin, the girls ascent the starlight staircase into the bathhouse where the Junsei no Kami (Pure Water of the Gods) has its fountain, where they meet the mastermind behind the falling stars: Hitomi Amanozako, who was born of the storm god's concentrated rage. She is furious, destructive and lonely, and hopes that if she destroys the Junsei no Kami, her father will not be able to wash away his anger and will create a sister for her. After fighting with the girls and realizing she can just go down to Gensokyo if she is lonely, Hitomi agrees to leave the fountain alone. However, the meteors aren't coming from her, but from her distant ally at the North Star, who is guiding celestial objects out of their paths to smash into the bathhouse. The girls fly high into space to find the legendary "goddess of evil," Haruka Kitahoshi, who guards the North Star. Defeating Haruka, the girls bring an end to the starfall.

However, several days later, Hitomi and many other deities have heard from a representative of Seiryuu-sama, who has been disturbed by the events in the heavens and seeks the one responsible. The girls go out to find the representative in order to stave off Seiryuu-sama's wrath.

With the roof of the Hakurei Shrine now full of holes and the youkai of Gensokyo causing a disturbance, Reimu sets out once more to find out who's stirring up trouble in the skies.

Mysterious and valuable comet fragments are being snatched up all over Gensokyo! Rather than chase after the little pieces, Marisa decides to go after their source and take the whole thing!

Meteors are smashing into the Youkai Mountain and throwing Kanako's worshipers into a frenzy! Kanako sends Sanae up into the skies above the Moriya Shrine to find out who's responsible and let them know who's in charge!

Though the elder tengu are keeping silent over the meteor shower, Aya knows a scoop when she sees one! Sneaking off the mountain, she sets off to be the first to discover the secret behind the starfall.

When the stars fall through the clouds above Byakuren's village and Unzan grows tired from deflecting so many meteors, Ichirin decides she can best help her mistress by going to seal off the source of the starfall.

Iku's atmospheric readings are all in disarray - someone is interfering with the mood of the atmosphere! When she discovers the meteors, Iku determines them to be the source of her failures and sets out to deal with those responsible.

Hitomi is the destructive lonely child of the storm god's pent-up rage. She plotted to destroy the sacred Junsui no Kami so that her father could not cleanse himself of his anger and would create a new sister for her. However, it has resisted all her efforts thus far.  

Hitomi Amanozako revealed the whereabouts of her collaborator, who continues to throw comets and asteroids at the Junsui no Kami, but the mysterious being lives far beyond the heavens in the darkness between stars!

Haruka Kitahoshi is the fabled goddess of evil who lives at the pole star, who has been using her powers to guide celestial objects toward the Junsui no Kami. The sacred site's barrier has caused them all to bounce off towards Gensokyo, but Haruka persists due to her friendship with Hitomi and her perception of the barrier as a challenge to her personal power.
