Still stinging after his last defeat, Bowser has at last discovered the means to conquer every World - even the Mushroom Kingdom! Regrouping and rebuilding his forces with familiar faces as well as some of Mario's personal foes, Bowser is staging an all-out attack on the portly plumber and his friends. ==Plot== Retreating from the ruins of his castle to the Secret Starry Cavern, Bowser consults with his Magikoopa advisors, whose research has uncovered the secret to Princess Peach's power to protect the Mushroom Kingdom: not just the individual Stars of the world, but the hidden World Star! The holder of a world's World Star holds sway over magic in that world, nullifying Bowser's own considerable warlock powers. Armed with this secret, Bowser captures the World Star of Secret Starry Cavern, then uses its powers to raise a newer, bigger army. Giving new, more potent Magic Wands to his seven Koopalings, he dispatches them to conquer other worlds and find their World Stars. Bowser Jr. is sent through the pipes to Mario & Luigi's hometown, to delay them and cut off the pipe while Bowser seizes the Mushroom Kingdom. Only... Mario isn't in the city - he's already left! Bowser Jr. returns to catch him, leaving Luigi occupied. Though Princess Peach is captured (no surprise there), Mario's allies will gather and challenge Bowser's army head-on in the biggest 3D Mario adventure yet! ==Gameplay== 3D Mario with occasional 2D segments. Standard controls. Levels arranged in overworld style, world by world. ==Worlds== ===Mushroom Kingdom=== '''Links to:''' Toybox Land, Flutter Forest, Rocky Road Ridge
'''Difficulty:''' *
'''Native Power-Up:''' Super Mushroom A simple, cheerful land of green hills and Toad Houses, watched over by Princess Peach's castle. Invaded by the Koopa Troop and a legion of Goombas, it now lies under the shadow of Bowser Jr.'s airship. ====Boss: Bowser Jr.==== ===Toybox Land=== '''Links to:''' Grand Castle Realm
'''Difficulty:''' **
'''Native Power-Up:''' Cape Feather A bright mechanical world filled with Mechakoopas and the occasional Bob-omb. ====Boss: Lemmy Koopa==== '''Wand: Lightning''' Lemmy dances atop three toy boxes, each of which releases toys. He fires lightning bolts from the sky with his wand. After releasing a trio of toys, he will conjure a ball to ride on and circle through the room, continuing to call lightning bolts. After two hits, he'll also be able to zap a toy box from atop his ball, causing it to release a toy. After four hits, he can cast sparks on the ground which zigzag three times before vanishing. ===Rocky Road Ridge=== '''Links to:''' Seaside Sultanate
'''Difficulty:''' *** A rocky cliffside world with Koopa racers, Monty Moles and the occasional landslide. ====Boss: Morton Koopa Jr.==== '''Wand: Earth''' Morton rumbles slowly around the room, occasionally jumping and ground-pounding, which stuns Mario if he is touching the ground. At any time, Morton can enter his shell and roll around the arena. Morton can cause stalagmites to rise in a line emanating from him, and can also smack the ground with his wand, causing a trio of Monty Moles to pop out. After two hits, he can conjure bottomless pits temporarily. After four hits, Morton tilts the ground and can summon rolling boulders. ===Seaside Sultanate=== '''Links to:''' Deadly Desert World
'''Difficulty:''' ****
'''Native Power-Up:''' Frog Suit A beautiful beach world where the local penguins play. Also inhabited by Bloopers, Cheep Cheeps and graceful flying manta rays. ====Boss: Larry Koopa==== '''Wand: Water''' Larry fights on a trio of small platforms floating in the water. He can summon tidal waves to push Mario off into the water below or create a waterspout to leap himself to another platform. After two hits, Cheep Cheeps begin to appear in the water, and Larry conjures bubbles that can trap Mario and throw him into the water. After four hits, a whirlpool forms in the center of the room, the Cheep Cheeps begin jumping and Larry removes one of the platforms. ===Flutter Forest=== '''Links to:''' Ancient Jungle Empire
'''Difficulty:''' *****
'''Native Power-Up:''' Raccoon Leaf ====Boss: Big Boo==== ===Grand Castle Realm=== '''Links to:''' Polar Penguin Paradise, Stormcloud Keep
'''Difficulty:''' ******
'''Native Power-Up:''' Knight Suit ====Boss: Wendy O. The light snow falling down will slow Mario slightly until he shakes it off. After two hits, the snow intensifies, and Roy can now summon a pillar of ice underneath himself, then send rows of icicles falling from the ceiling before letting loose a salvo of freezing bolts and smashing down to the ground again. After four hits, the snow grows stronger still, and Roy can create snowmen to chase Mario around. ===Stormcloud Keep=== '''Links to:''' ? A high mountaintop world, with mist-shrouded summits and Himalayan temples. In addition to High Altitude Paratroopas and Super Koopas flying about, rumor places the Abominable Snowman as lurking somewhere nearby. ====Boss: Ludwig von Koopa==== '''Wand: Fire''' Ludwig's room is suspended over a volcano caldera. Podoboos jump from the lava at regular intervals. Ludwig can summon additional Podoboos, shoot magical bolts of flame and breathe fireballs. After two hits, Ludwig can retreat into his shell and bounce up and down, causing all the Podoboos to shoot up simultaneously, and the number of fireballs and magic bolts he can use multiplies. After four hits, Ludwing can summon a lava wave to circle the arena or two lava pillars to bisect it temporarily. After six hits, Ludwig falls offscreen and the lava in the volcano empties. Just as Mario is about to claim victory, however, Ludwig flutter-jumps back to the ring and summons magical blue flames to replace the lava. Now Ludwig summons magical blue Podoboos which hunt along the ground briefly before dropping down, and fires magical bolts of blue flames in groups of five. Instead of his previous moves, he can now fire a continuous jet of blue flame while standing in the middle of the arena. Two last hits will bring him down for good. ===Rainbow Road=== '''Links to:''' Secret Starry Cavern '''Difficulty:''' ? ====Boss: Iggy Koopa==== '''Wand: Light''' ===Secret Starry Cavern=== '''Links to:''' Koopa Kingdom '''Difficulty:''' ? ====Boss: Kamek==== ===Koopa Kingdom=== '''Links to:''' Star Crown Castle '''Difficulty:''' ? ====Boss: Bowser==== ===Star Crown Castle=== '''Difficulty:''' ? ====Boss: Warlock Bowser====
