==Ideas== *Aether lighthouses (Aetherlamps) *Hive shard (dromites/formians + extra breeds) *Lalana mounts, civilization, purpose in aether *Ameena civilization *Substitution levels for all races *Aether manipulator PrC *Racial feats for all races *Rules for hazards in the aether *Elemental Pathways between shards; possible navigation tools *Rules for shardstuff and aetherite weapons and materials *Aetherwhales and other flora and fauna of the spaces between *Aether subtype (allows movement in the aether) *Cooler name than "Skybreak"--I like "Shattersky". ~LN :*How about "Skyshatter"? Gorbash Kazdar 12:39, 22 June 2007 (CDT) *How does cartomancy and the cartomancer fit into this? Perhaps mainly gnomish gypsy magic, or each race has their own "spread" (or deck)? *Cultures: :*Ameena: Indian? ::I like Indian. Perhaps Indian mixed with Native American animism. =Fax :*Kîn: Highland scots/zulu? :*Dancers: Gypsy like, possibly. Maybe with a mixture of plains Native Americans? :*Drazai: Orderly, regimented. Germanic? :*Nahdoun: Bedouin/Inuit mix. :*Orcs: Normans. :*Humans: Saxons to the Orc's Normans. :*Gnomes: Monastic, with a pessimistic bent. :*Goraz: Tibetan/Navajo? :*Drahn (Birdfolk): ??? *Empire: Emperor? Empress? Who's in charge? What to call the vassal states? Are they all ruled by orcs? Perhaps each is still ruled by a non-orc king or the like, with an orc governor. *Ideas for monsters in the mists or elsewhere. Note, the creatures in the mist don't actually need to be strictly like the animals given. Indeed, most should be unique. But their abilities and their looks can be based on these ideas. I think most creatures in the mists should be informed by swimming or flying creatures :*Rays. Because flying manta or stingrays in the mists would look cool :*Giants. Only mountain giants (from MMII, as I recall) are colossal. None are gargantuan. We must fix this. Shard giants, aether giants, brobdingnagians, yahoos, whatever we can think of. :*Albatross. A bird or bird-like creature flying continuously through the aether, almost never landing? Yes please. :*Rocs. In line with the albatross, giant birds might work well in the aether. :*Cuttlefish. Creatures that hypnotize (stun) through rapid changes in color. :*Eels :*Sharks :*Anglerfish. Possibly a fascination effect? :*Dragonflies. Something that hunts on the wing, catching its prey and eating it on the wing. ::Perhaps that race I mentioned. I'll see what I can come up with. =Fax :::Nah. We've already got a lot of races. Let's work more on monsters. 'Sides, for it to work properly (swooping down, catching prey, and then flying off with it), it's going to need to be at least large, and probably huge.--JackMann 14:58, 21 June 2007 (CDT) :*Pterosaurs. :*Mist wraiths? :*New exemplars of Law and Chaos. Modrons aren't OGL, nor are Slaad (which suck anyway), and Formians are used for Fax's insect idea ::Why not make the insect races be examples of law anyway? Or, perhaps mechanizations. Mechanical bugs! As for chaos, perhaps something like a gibbering mouther, but not insane or evil? =Fax :::For one thing, we're using them as lawful evil. For another thing, formians are pretty crappy exemplars of law. Let's try to come up with something better. Something like a gibbering mouther or an intelligent chaos beast might work for chaos.--JackMann 14:58, 21 June 2007 (CDT) *Plane ideas :*The Bleak: A parched, empty landscape that stretches on forever. Only occasional bones or predators mark the place. Minor negative trait. :*Kyriss: A plane of volcanoes and flowing magma. :*The Nevermaze: A giant maze. It can be entered and exited only at certain points. :*Evermore: Not sure on this one. Just sounds like a possible name, or part of a name. :*The Frontier: A wilder version of the Astral? :*The Blue: A vast sea, which has no bottom, but countless floating islands (both on the surface, and floating underwater). Somewhere, there's a place called Fiddler's Green, the sailor's paradise :*The Fair Woods: A paradise of sorts, full of fey and similar creatures :*The Endless Caverns: A vast cave system :*Pax Mot: The Land of the Dead :*The Churn: A chaotic plane full of moving rocks, water, and muck. :*The Living City: Not sure how literal this one will be. Genius Loci? :*Elemental Plane of Elves: Just making sure you're paying attention. :*The Arcade: A plane of colloseums and stadiums, where every conceivable competition--from dice games to wars--take place on a daily basis. :*The Sunlands: A plane of constant light and pleasant weather. Put something horrible here. Mildly positive trait. :*Battlefield: An endless battlefield, the remnants of some long-forgotten war. :*The Crystalline Landscape of Matri, plane of law *Steampunk! Drazai? *Treat the "core" of the planet like a gas giant. Aether gathers and condenses around it, causing massive storms. The pressure also increases as you go down, eventually crushing people and ships that fall too far in. The only beings that can enter it and survive are elementals and genies? *Treat the aether core as the source of elementals? *Elemental prominances shooting out of the aether core. Cause a massive influx of elementals and elemental matter around anything they hit, like a solar flare shorting out satellites. *Beings of law are trying to stitch the shards back together. Beings of chaos are trying to break them apart further. Which ones you support depends on how much you like your neighbors.
