Back to [[Serpents and Sewers: Species and Templates|Species]] Back to the [[Serpents and Sewers|Main page]] ==Psychic characters in Serpents and Sewers== This is a template for characters with an innate psychic ability. This is normally a very rare trait, but in some campaign worlds, psychic versions of otherwise "normal" species exist paralell to their non-psychic relatives or are the vast majority. This template does not represent an individual with an extraordinary Gift (that would be covered by the ''Psychic Gift'' Background Trait), but a distinct population of psychic individuals that form a society of their own. ==Psychic Character's Racial Abilities== * ''Abilities'': -2 to one physical ability, +2 to one mental ability. Psychic characters often favor mental flexibility over physical prowess. * ''Psychic Correspondence'': For all effects related to race, a psychic character is considered to have the psychic subtype and the original species of his progenitors (a psychic elf would still count as an elf). * psychic characters use the same base speed as the original species. * ''Inherited psionic powers'': Psychic characters gain one psychic power feat as a free bonus feat. They must fulfill the feat's requirements as usual. * ''Psychic Empathy'': Sublte use of their psychic abilities grants psychic characters a +2 racial bonus to Intrigue, Intimiate and Sense Motive checks. * ''Highly focused:'' Since they effectively learn to use their psionic gifts from early childhood on and grow up in an environment where they don't have to learn to use their powers autodidacticly, psychic characters gain a racial +2 bonus to all skill checks to use or manifest their psychic powers. * ''Psionic Resistance'': Psychic characters gain a +2 racial bonus to all Saving throws against all psychic powers. Familiarity and understanding fuels a resistance against their own powers. They also gain a +2 bonus to resist all forms of mind-affecting spells, powers and effects (and can therefore resist psionic mind-affecting powers with a total +4 bonus). * ''Favored Class'': Psychic characters use the same favored class as their progenitors. * ''Level Adjustment'': +1 ==Further Advancement of psychic characters:== psychic characters use the same advancement scheme as their progenitor species.
