A half-way point in the Sunfire Sky, Port Imperial is home to a city-sized port, founded just twenty years ago. It is headed by Admiral Rawn, a human in the Sikanderun Navy. In theory, it is an extension of the Empire. Politically, it is ruled by Sikanderun. In all practicality, it's an independant entity, nearly lawless. Ships of all stripes stop here, from imperial navy ships to pirates. Anything is allowed, from gambling and drugs to outright murder is permissable, provided one has the money to pay off the guards. The only things truly forbidden are disruption of business, especially Imperial business or Rawn's personal concerns. Problems of that nature are dealt with harshly. Public hangings are a common sight. The port sprawls on the south and west sides of the shard, taking up most of the edge there. Warehouses are mostly on the west side, and that is where most trade ships land. The streets were designed in a haphazard fashion, winding this way and that around shops, warehouses, and slums. The southside is slightly better organized. The better inns tend to be around here. The ships that land on the south side tend to be faster, lighter craft used more for exploration than for trade. Scholars and alchemists make their homes here, as well as some of the shipwrights and The east is dotted with the homes of the richer residents of the shard, including the Admiral's Manor. The north contains a small forest, used for hunting and the occasional bit of smuggling. It is, therefore, patrolled by the Admiral's Guard to try and prevent such occurances (or at least make sure that proper fees are paid to the Admiral). The population of Port Imperial is mixed, including most of the races of Iskander, but also a number of nahdoun and other races of the aether. Drow mercenaries and Hezral Mkreth harpoonists prowl the port, looking for work or for wine to spend their gold on. Mintraunata, a green dragon merchant, keeps a home on the east side. Old and crippled sailors beg from the alleyways. . [[Category:Skybreak]][[Category:Footprints]][[Category:Shards]]
