Note that the Sorcerer and Wizard have variants that change more than just their Mana Multiplier progression. <div style="clear: left; height: 1em;"></div> {| cellpadding=1px style="background-color: #000000; text-align: center;" |- style="background-color: #f0e7d3;" | colspan=3 | Bard<sup>1</sup> | rowspan=23 width=5px | | colspan=2 | Cleric | rowspan=23 width=5px | | colspan=2 | Druid | rowspan=23 width=5px | | colspan=2 | Paladin/Ranger<sup>5</sup> | rowspan=23 width=5px | | colspan=3 | Sorcerer<sup>7</sup> | rowspan=23 width=5px | | colspan=2 | Wizard |- style="background-color: #ffffff;" | colspan=3 | ½ Lv. | colspan=2 | 2 + ½ Lv.<sup>4</sup> | colspan=2 | 2 + ½ Lv. | colspan=2 | ¼ (Lv. - 3)<sup>6</sup> | colspan=3 | 3 + ¾ Lv. | colspan=2 | 2 + ½ Lv.<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #8E5A2E; color: #ffffff;" ! style="padding: 0 0.5em;"| Level !! style="padding: 0 0.5em;"| Mana<br/>Multiplier !! style="padding: 0 0.5em;"| Spells<br/>Known ! style="padding: 0 0.5em;"| Level !! style="padding: 0 0.5em;"| Mana<br/>Multiplier ! style="padding: 0 0.5em;"| Level !! style="padding: 0 0.5em;"| Mana<br/>Multiplier ! style="padding: 0 0.5em;"| Level !! style="padding: 0 0.5em;"| Mana<br/>Multiplier ! style="padding: 0 0.5em;"| Level !! style="padding: 0 0.5em;"| Mana<br/>Multiplier !! style="padding: 0 0.5em;"| Spells<br/>Learned ! style="padding: 0 0.5em;"| Level !! style="padding: 0 0.5em;"| Mana<br/>Multiplier |- style="background-color: #f0e7d3;" | 1st || 1<sup>2</sup> || -<sup>3</sup> | 1st || 2<sup>4</sup> | 1st || 2 | 1st || 1<sup>2</sup> | 1st || 3 || +2<sup>8</sup> | 1st || 2<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #ffffff;" | 2nd || 1 || +2 | 2nd || 3<sup>4</sup> | 2nd || 3 | 2nd || 1<sup>2</sup> | 2nd || 4 || +2 | 2nd || 3<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #f0e7d3;" | 3rd || 1 || +2 | 3rd || 4<sup>4</sup> | 3rd || 4 | 3rd || 1<sup>2</sup> | 3rd || 5 || +2 | 3rd || 4<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #ffffff;" | 4th || 2 || +2 | 4th || 4<sup>4</sup> | 4th || 4 | 4th || 1<sup>2</sup> | 4th || 6 || +2 | 4th || 4<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #f0e7d3;" | 5th || 2 || +1 | 5th || 5<sup>4</sup> | 5th || 5 | 5th || 1<sup>2</sup> | 5th || 6 || +2 | 5th || 5<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #ffffff;" | 6th || 3 || +2 | 6th || 6<sup>4</sup> | 6th || 6 | 6th || 1<sup>2</sup> | 6th || 7 || +2 | 6th || 6<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #f0e7d3;" | 7th || 3 || +2 | 7th || 6<sup>4</sup> | 7th || 6 | 7th || 1 | 7th || 8 || +2 | 7th || 6<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #ffffff;" | 8th || 4 || +1 | 8th || 7<sup>4</sup> | 8th || 7 | 8th || 1.25<sup>6</sup> | 8th || 9 || +2 | 8th || 7<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #f0e7d3;" | 9th || 4 || +2 | 9th || 8<sup>4</sup> | 9th || 8 | 9th || 1.5<sup>6</sup> | 9th || 9 || +2 | 9th || 8<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #ffffff;" | 10th || 5 || +2 | 10th || 8<sup>4</sup> | 10th || 8 | 10th || 1.75<sup>6</sup> | 10th || 10 || +2 | 10th || 8<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #f0e7d3;" | 11th || 5 || +1 | 11th || 9<sup>4</sup> | 11th || 9 | 11th || 2 | 11th || 11 || +2 | 11th || 9<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #ffffff;" | 12th || 6 || +2 | 12th || 10<sup>4</sup> | 12th || 10 | 12th || 2.25<sup>6</sup> | 12th || 12 || +2 | 12th || 10<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #f0e7d3;" | 13th || 6 || +2 | 13th || 10<sup>4</sup> | 13th || 10 | 13th || 2.5<sup>6</sup> | 13th || 12 || +2 | 13th || 10<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #ffffff;" | 14th || 7 || +1 | 14th || 11<sup>4</sup> | 14th || 11 | 14th || 2.75<sup>6</sup> | 14th || 13 || +2 | 14th || 11<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #f0e7d3;" | 15th || 7 || +2 | 15th || 12<sup>4</sup> | 15th || 12 | 15th || 3 | 15th || 14 || +2 | 15th || 12<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #ffffff;" | 16th || 8 || +2 | 16th || 12<sup>4</sup> | 16th || 12 | 16th || 3.25<sup>6</sup> | 16th || 15 || +2 | 16th || 12<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #f0e7d3;" | 17th || 8 || +1 | 17th || 13<sup>4</sup> | 17th || 13 | 17th || 3.5<sup>6</sup> | 17th || 15 || +2 | 17th || 13<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #ffffff;" | 18th || 9 || +2 | 18th || 14<sup>4</sup> | 18th || 14 | 18th || 3.75<sup>6</sup> | 18th || 16 || +2 | 18th || 14<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #f0e7d3;" | 19th || 9 || +2 | 19th || 14<sup>4</sup> | 19th || 14 | 19th || 4 | 19th || 17 || +2 | 19th || 14<sup>9</sup> |- style="background-color: #ffffff;" | 20th || 10 || +1 | 20th || 15<sup>4</sup> | 20th || 15 | 20th || 4.25<sup>6</sup> | 19th || 18 || +2 | 20th || 15<sup>9</sup> |} * <sup>1</sup> Bard spells add 2 less than their own level (minimum +0) to the minimum Caster Level required to cast them. Thus, 3rd level spells add 1 and so require a Caster Level of 7, 4th level spells add 2 and require a Caster Level of 10, etc. Further, 1st level spells, which are normally an exception to the rule of having twice their spell level as the minimum Caster Level, are not an exception for Bard Spells - they require Caster Level 2nd to cast. Finally, there are no Bard spells of a spell level higher than 6. * <sup>2</sup> Though according to the Mana Multiplier Equation for this class at this level the Mana Multiplier should be less than 1, 1 is the minimum possible Mana Multiplier. * <sup>3</sup> The Bard does not have any 1st or higher level spells at 1st level. He does, however, gain Cantrips, at a rate of one quarter of his Charisma modifier per level, plus 3 at first level. Any remainder from one level should be added to the next level (so a Bard with 14 Charisma, and therefore a +2 modifier, gains 1 cantrip every other level, and then the cycle repeats itself. Changes to the Bard's Charisma do not change the number of cantrips he already knows, only how many he will learn at level-up. * <sup>4</sup> Clerics also gain Mana equal to the cost of the highest level spell that they could cast next level, for the sole use of casting Domain spells, which may be of a level up to the highest spell level they would be able to cast on the next level of Cleric (i.e. Domain spells may be cast a Caster Level early). * <sup>5</sup> Paladins and Rangers are special because they do not start out as a spellcasting class. Their first three levels are not spellcasting levels, and they therefore only gain 0.5 Caster Level for each of these levels. * <sup>6</sup> Paladins and Rangers are also special because their Mana Multiplier is not rounded down, as are most class's. Usually, rounding down does not appreciably diminish a class's power, and only introduces unnecessary fraction multiplication. In the case of Paladins and Rangers, however, with their extremely limited Mana pools and slow Mana Multiplier progression, to not keep the fractions would lead to extremely uneven Mana gains. * <sup>7</sup> The Sorcerer Mana Multiplier progression is also appropriate for Beguilers, Dread Necromancers, Puppet Masters, and Warmages. * <sup>8</sup> In addition to the leveled spells that a Sorcerer learns each level, they also learn cantrips at a rate of one third of his base Charisma multiplier (before temporary effects like magic or items) each level, plus 3 at first level. Any remainder from one level should be added to the next level (so a Sorcerer with 18 Charisma, and therefore a +4 modifier, gains 1 cantrip for each of two levels and 2 on the third, and then the cycle repeats itself. Changes to the Sorcerer's Charisma do not change the number of cantrips he already knows, only how many he will learn at level-up. * <sup>9</sup> Wizards also gain Mana equal to the highest level spell they could cast next level, which may only be spent on spells from his Specialist school of a level equal to no more than the highest he could cast next level (e.g. a Wizard may cast spells from his Specialist school a level early).
