Gallis runs the highest single provincial tax in Ivalice, and is said to own at least 1/3rd of the legal seagoing vessels in the kingdom (though rumors place the number at closer to 1/2 of ''all'' seagoing vessels in the kingdom). The Duke is no crime lord, however; he is a fierce advocate of a particularly harsh and unforgiving brand of justice, which has earned him the approval of some in the Church. Gallis is not particularly close with his family; he is rumored to have exiled one of his sons, and the other two children have gladly taken lesser titles with lands far from their father's estates.
