{{Aspects}} ==Granted Power== The bearer of an item with the Darkness aspect can see in normal or magical darkness as far as they would in light; if they already possess darkvision, it can now penetrate magical darkness, and its range is doubled. ==Aspect Powers== ===First Tier Powers=== *'''Nimbus of Shade:''' The square containing the item is always shrouded in nonmagical darkness, regardless of ambient light conditions, rendering it shadowed. ''Cost:'' 2 AP. ''Special:'' This effect's radius can be expanded by five feet for each additional AP spent. *'''Shadows Slow to Fade:''' In any square that is in less than natural daylight, or any square they have moved through (and thus cast a shadow in), the item's bearer gains a +2 bonus on Hide checks. ''Cost:'' 2 AP. ''Special:'' This power can be selected up to five times; its effects stack. *'''Sun's Dark, Moon's Dark:''' The item's bearer casts two shadows, each of which flows over his physical body, slowly. Attacks against the item's bearer have a 10% miss chance, as at least some strike one of the two shadows. ''Cost:'' 3 AP. *'''Lash of Shades:''' The item's bearer may choose, a number of times per day equal to the number of AP invested in the Darkness aspect, to make a ranged touch attack; this attack deals no damage, but the character add the weapon's damage roll as a bonus on an opposed Charisma check against this power's target. Should the target lose the contest, he is struck blind for a number of rounds equal to the bearer's Charisma bonus. ''Cost:'' 3 AP. *'''Night's Mask:''' The item's bearer can, at will, summon a mask of shadows to conceal their features and general appearance. No divinatory magic can pierce this veil, and thus, no outside observer can discern the creature's appearance against their will- their alignment, thoughts, and other matters are not so protected; it protects only against being recognized. ''Cost:'' 2 AP. ===Second Tier Powers=== *'''Shadow's Snare:'''The item's bearer can choose to leave a line of shadow behind them as they move; its maximum length is 10ft. per point of Charisma bonus the bearer possesses. Any creature crossing the line on foot must succeed on a reflex save (DC 14 + Bearer's Cha) or take 1d6 points of damage per ten feet of the line's length as it snaps up to attempt to bisect them; half this damage is slashing damage, the rest is cold damage. Once the line has dealt damage to a creature, it dissipates; otherwise it lasts 3d4 rounds. ''Cost:''4 AP. *'''Shade of Knowledge:'''The item's bearer can attempt to make their shadow contact the shadow of another being; doing so requires passing within five feet of the other creature. Once contact has been established, the bearer is always aware of the square that creature inhabits, even if that creature is invisible, or the bearer is blinded or otherwise unable to make them out. This power lasts 3d4 rounds. A reflex save (DC 14+ Cha) negates the effect, but does not alert the target to the attempt. ''Cost:'' 4 AP. *'''Shade of Despair:''' This power requires shadow-to-shadow contact, as Shade of Knowledge does. Once contact is established, the bearer's attacks that deal HP damage deal bonus damage equal to twice the target's Charisma modifier (if positive), as their own shadow seeks to guide the blade to vital spots. This power lasts 3d4 rounds. A reflex save (DC 14+ Cha) negates the effect, but does not alert the target to the attempt. ''Cost:'' 4 AP. *'''New Moon's Deception:''' This power functions only in darkness, magical or otherwise (and cannot be reduced in cost by that conditional). When the item's bearer attacks a creature, that creature does not perceive the attack for 1d3 rounds (although creatures around it do, and can point out its effects to the afflicted creature with a standard action). This power does not actually delay damage, and if the target would be placed in a dying or dead state by the damage dealt, the power does not operate. The target still perceives other hostile effects that are not HP damage, such as ability damage, slowing or entanglement, or attempts to charm or dominate them (when appropriate). ''Cost:'' 4 AP. ===Third Tier Powers=== ===Fourth Tier Powers=== ===Conditionals=== *The power only functions in naturally shadowy or darker illumination. -1 AP. *The power only functions in magical darkness. -2 AP.
