In general, mantras are packets of powers (For more on powers, see the [[DDSd20 Powers]] section). When a character levels up, he gains a number of mantras determined by whichever class level he gains. He gains all of the powers associated with that mantra and can use them whenever he wishes, as long as he is able to pay the costs of that power (see the Powers section below).

-
Each demonic class provides three different types of mantras: Physical, Magical, and Free mantras. Each mantra is labeled with either a Physical or Magical tag (see 'Reading Mantra Entries' below). If a mantra is labeled as physical, one cannot acquire with a class-granted magical mantra, and vice versa. Free mantras may be used to purchase physical or magical mantras.

===Reading Mantra Entries===

Each mantra is presented in the following format:

'''MANTRA NAME'''<br>

<Mantra type> <Element> <Level><br>

''Prerequisites:''<br>

<Power list>

====Mantra Name====

-
The name of the mantra. Fairly self explanatory.

-
====Mantra type====

-
Physical or Magical. When a class grants a physical mantra, that cannot be used to acquire a magical mantra, and vice versa. Physical mantras provide powers that key off physical ability scores (Strength, Dexterity, Constitution) and magical mantras provide powers that key off mental ability scores (Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma).

-
====Element====

-
Many mantras are associated with a specific element. Feats and abilities that affect powers of the corresponding element apply to all non-passive powers granted by this mantra. Not all mantras have an element entry: those that do not are non-elemental and thus un-modified by elemental feats and abilities.

-
====Level====

-
All mantras have a level, 1-9. Level 1 mantras can be taken by anyone, but to take a mantra of a higher level, one must meet certain level prerequisites.

====Prerequisites====

-
Conditions that must be fulfilled before one can acquire this mantra (other than demon level, described above). Not all mantras have a prerequisite entry: those that do not have no prerequisites and may be taken by anyone.

-

-
Prerequisites can take many forms. Most often, prerequisites are other (typically lower level) mantras. They may also be ability scores or feats.

-

-
====Power list====

-
The powers a mantra grants to the character.
