{{nsfw}} Many races have cultural norms associated with their sexuality. This page provides some possible examples - however, the GM gets to rule on the details for the purposes of the world you are playing in, ''especially'' if the world is homebrew. SOME examples, by loose group: == Abberations == === Driders === Poor Driders. They don't get the parts for sexuality or reproduction in any way, shape, for form. Their entire former sexual drive is channeled into more hatred of themselves, of the Drow that cast them out, and of anything and everything else. === Floating Eye Thingies Whose Names Are Trademarked And Thus Cannot Be Written Here === FETWNATATCBWHs (Fetnats for short!) are inherently alien in all sorts of ways, and doubly so in their sexuality. They rarely think about sexuality, until they decide that it's time to procreate, find another Beholder 'worthy' (whatever their ego will accept), and have... Well, let's not describe it, other than that it leaves ''both'' pregnant with three to six live-born young. They can theoretically self-impregnate, but doing so is rare. == Outsiders, Evil == === Daemons === Daemons (not to be confused with demons) are unempathic, morbid creatures who don't feel love for others - when they make love, they ignore their partner's pleasure, often discarding lovers fatally when they're no longer fun to screw. === Demons === Demons are highly passionate and energetic in love affairs (which often end in bloody fights to the death) and in sex (which usually involves serious injury to both parties). They aren't really perverted - rather, they simply do not understand the idea of inhibition, whatsoever - if they enjoy it, they do it. They tend to enjoy imposing themselves on the 'lesser' races, but rarely return for any child born. Succubi are a little different, tending towards Chaotic Neutral or (for Freesouls) Chaotic Good sexual norms; they're still out for what they want, but evil ones view the idea of being sincerely loving to someone and the idea of corrupting them into serving the cause of destruction as inherently linked, not opposed. That said, they really are NOT fans of the idea of monogamity... Dedicating so long to one person is in fact flat-out frustrating to them. === Devils === Devils tend to have strict codes for sexuality and relationships - that they will ignore when particularly inconvenient. They normally are not supposed to mate outside their species, but will occasionally do so to use the child as a pawn in a greater scheme. They are normally highly dominant, rarely enjoying sex where the other is not helpless and/or theirs to command. == Outsiders, Good == === Angels === Angels, a blanket term for the highest paragons of Good, have essentially no sense of the erotic, but a strong urge for love in and of itself. They are supportive, kind, and uplifting. === Archons === Archons, being of Lawful Good origin, seek to be deliberate in their bringing of good to the world. Their strongly Lawful Good cultural norms, however, tend to lean somewhat towards Neutral Good for issues of love and/or sexuality - they want to bring happiness to others, and aren't "above" doing so sexually. Cultural norms for Archons are generally okay with interspecies relationships, preferring of monogamity, and encourage being less cautious about love than other things - but not completely free of caution, either. Their relationships are rarely purely sexual, though; they seek to bring the person ''emotional'' satisfaction as much as, or more than, sexual. === Celestials === Celestials, a blanket term we're using to mean Chaotic Good Outsiders for this purpose, are passionate, emotional, and free. They are often more openly promiscuous than Archons. While taking many partners is very normal, ''discarding'' one is excepptionally rare - no matter how long ago you were with them, they will ''still'' go to great efforts to protect and help you. == Outsiders, Other == === Lawful Outsiders in general === Lawful Outsiders in general don't really acknowledge things like sex and love - they're too busy with order. === Chaotic Outsiders in general === Chaotic Outsiders in general run a gamut from complete absintence to ludicrous levels of nymphomania. They simply do as they please, and the results of having sex with them can be predicted to be unpredictable. == Dragons == Dragons ''rarely'' mate, due in part to their exceptional lifespans - an offspring or two every century or two. A typical egg takes two to three years to hatch. <<<SPECIFIC DRAGON TYPES GO HERE>>> == Elementals == As a general rule, elementals don't have sexuality. They exist for the purpose of existing, and new ones are spontaneously formed from the ether of their elemental plane, or through magical rituals. == Fey == === Dryads === Dryads flirt and flee, rarely mating. When actually attracted to a creature (RARE!), they tend to charm it and spend a while making explosive, passionate love to it, then send it home. They tend highly towards an Andro sexual alignment, and especially towards human or elven males. === Nymphs === Nymphs are beautiful, graceful, and ludicrously discriminating - gaining their love is nearly impossible. This tragically results in them being the target of rapes all too often. Those who do fall in true love do so forever - and if betrayed by a lover, pretty much waste away - after a sufficiently horrific revenge. They drag mating out for hours, and tend to leave their lovers addicted. When they couple with a humanoid, they take that race's form. Nymphs are perfectly okay with bisexuality or even homosexuality. They may in fact be more comfortable with such a relationship, as their pregnancies tend to be ''very'' long (and invariably produce another Nymph). === Satyr === Satyrs are insatiable lovers who will rut with pretty much anything regardless of species or even creature type. This is ''especiallly'' true after a festival held for the God of Wine. Women carried off by them (and this is the norm) tend to be returned rather befuddled and very pleasured. They desire nothing more than a Nymph (though they ''are'' above rape, ''without exception'', even for these notoriously hard to seduce creatures). Satyr are invariably Horny and ''never'' enter Recovery - returning to neutral instead. Satyrs find lesbians hot - enough to vaguely respect their preferences and not go after them (though if they could watch, that'd be great!). Satyrs find homosexual ''males'', however, confusing and abbhorrent. (Fortunately, their incredibly limited capacity for fabulous means that most homosexual males find Satyrs unlikable, so this tends to work out.) === Sprites === Sprites aren't fans of actual sex, but are loving masters of the art of teasing and innuendo. They prefer brief, scandalous affairs to lasting relationships, enjoy teasing creatures that can't reliably catch them, and are near-universally bisexual (what does it matter when the odds of Tab A going into Slot B are so low?) == Humanoids == === Dwarves === Dwarves are highly conservative about sex and love - virgin until marriage, and faithful afterwards is the way they roll things. That said, they ''love'' dirty jokes, etchings, and songs. Their inhibitions can and often do fade with age; if they're old enough to have white hair, they're likely to be the epitome of the dirty old man/woman. In settings where dwarven females are less common than males, platonic homosexuality is fairly common. === Dwarves, Duergar === Duergar emphasize toil and have essentially no passion or sexuality, putting up with sex once every year or two with appointed mates in the name of children (who are promptly handed to the government for raising). === Elves === Elves love to love, love to make art, and are very open and expressive about their love - 25 years of puberty tends to result in time to explore all manner of kinks and a tendency to sleep with anyone willing. Eventually they settle down a little, making love regularly, with few kinks of perversions. They have no taboo against divorce but tend to marry for life anyways. Their ears are highly sensitive, and thus lots of good foreplay involves them. Rubbing ears as a greeting is a sign of intimacy. === Elves, Drow === Drow are matriarchal - female dominatrixes ahoy! Treating your lover as an equal is utterly blasphemous to the Drow. Lesbianism is encouraged, but homosexual males are commonly targeted - inferiors accepting inferiors is simply not tolerated... However, it is more common than one would think, out of sheer need for emotional bonds. Heterosexual relationships tend to fail due to the pressure of society. === Gnomes === Gnomes are kinda odd about their sexuality. With exceptionally low birthrates, it can take months between when two gnomes to decide to have a child and pregnancy actually occurs successfully. Gnomish sexuality is exploratory, viewing a mate as a puzzle to solve, courtship as the first success, and marriage as watching the puzzle change and evolve. They are open minded towards what others might call perversions, with their culture frowning upon using the same sexual position twice in one year. Homosexuality is rare among Gnomes, and cautiously tolerated. === Halflings === Halflings treat both genders equally, have courtships that start and end explosively, prefer to try and hide relationships (inevitably unsuccessfully). When they finally DO marry, it is for life, and they tend to stick by one another even when they drive each other crazy (often). === Half-Orcs === Surprisingly for their inherited animal magnetism, Half-Orcs have a strong tendency towards abstinence - they are almost inevitably the results of a rape, which can lead to sex being disturbingly like their more feral cousins. === Humans === Are you surprised by there not being anything useful here? Decide by the culture of the area, and keep in mind it'll probably change for each culture you visit, and have plenty of individuals who ignore/defy that culture! === Planetouched === Planetouched are primarily sexually defined by their material race - with some tendencies, within this, towards their bloodline. Aasimartouched tend to favor Lawful Good sexual norms, and are uncomfortable going beyond norms. Celestialtouched tend to be free-loving and have a high rate of bisexuality - freely flitting from relationships, but never intentionally (or through neglect) hurting others. Tieflings tend towards dominance and not being easily satisfied. They're good at using their improved dexterity for pleasure - with the side effect that, combined with racial tensions towards them, Tieflings are often forced into prostitution... == Magical Beasts == === Sphinx === Sphinxes have a strong sexual drive that they obsessively repress in the name of their traditioanl pursuit of intellectualism - resulting in an eternally conflicting Id and Superego. They view sexual advances as if they were attempted rape, and react just about as well as you'd expect a creature with a lion's claws to. When they do truly love, they tend to hate each other as well for their respective weakness and depravity. == Monstrous Humanoids == === Bugbears === Bugbears have an extreme sexual drive, that their culture encourages to channel into highly violent tendencies. Attractive (by their standards) bugbears, however, tend to ignore this and instead attract large harems or become prostitutes. They are not picky, but are aggressive. === Centaur === Centaurs go through a summer rutting season, and often have contests of skill or strength to prove worth to prospective mates - occasionally resulting in serious injury or death. They are relatively casual about sex, switching partners often, but after their number of children is close to (or over!) their ability to care for them, they tend to learn to control their urges. === Gargoyles === Gargoyles enjoy torture. Rape happens to be a ''really good'' form of torture. When it's with each other, however, their lovemaking tends to be very long and pleasureable for both. They are universally Bisexual. === Giants === Surprisingly for the number of variations they are known for, giants are generally consistent in sexuality - sexually subdued, extremely faithful to one heterosexual pair, and simply not a priority in their lives. === Gnolls === Gnolls are extremely matriarchal - the Alpha Female ''alone'' is allowed any homosexual acts. They don't have a sexual culture any more than they have a normal one, and they mate violently and frequently, imposing themselves on others forcefully. They compete fiercely (with deadly results) for mating rights, to the point where within hours of their birth, young Gnolls of the same sex will start fighting for those rights. === Goblins === Need to be decided upon largely by setting, since Goblins tend to be one of the first races to change heavily. Plan accordingly. === Hobgoblins === Rough and militaristic, hobgoblins could care less about appearance, viewing combat skill as a peacock might view another's plumage. Sex is a hint painful for all involved - since they believe that if you can't take the pain, you don't deserve the pleasure. Hobgoblins tend to view a good fight as the perfect foreplay. Surprisingly, this tends to result in them rarely, if ever, feeling desire for other species - rape means the mate wasn't a good fighter, and is thus undesirable. === Kobolds === Kobold males are cowardly and sadistic - a good combination for females willing to deal with a little pain to get the lead on things. They tend to be attracted to sorcerers... Who tend to be asexual... Usually resulting in lots of dead kobolds. A Sorcerous line's heir will eventually, and ''very'' grudgingly, admit a need to sire a child... One of the only things that continues their species, sometimes. === Lillends === Lillends, like most Chaotic Good Outsiders, love to love, being passionate and free. Their sexuality is pretty much universal in nature. === Lizardfolk === Check the moon. Is it really shiny and full? Then your Lizardfolk friend's probably busy mating with something or someone - could be anything, really. Is it not? Then they're completely and utterly asexual. They are an egg-laying species, and tend to raise children communally. === Medusae === Medusae have so few males that their (quite active!) sexuality pretty much requires lesbianism, xenophilia, or both. They tend to disguise themselves, mate with someone, then turn them to stone when done, for later use... Occasionally involving turning them back to beings of flesh first. ''Occasionally''. === Squid Thingies Whose Names We Also Can't Write For Trademark Reaspons === STWNWACWFTRs (Stewnwacks for shhort!) are asexual by nature, only able to experience sexuality vicariously through those in their thrall. Those who begin to understand what sexuality really MEANS tend to get pissed off about this, and fast. === Minotaurs === Minotaurs are aggressive, fighting over the best mates - ''both genders'', as they tend to be neither patriarchal nor matriarchal. === Ogres === Ogres find sex dull, really. It's just not something that's that interesting, though a child is something to appreciate if you get the chance. === Orcs === Orcs don't care for sex, so much as they care for reproduction. Only the strong and/or charismatic, however, get mates - because no Orc will accept a weak mate - not even another weak one! Female and Male orcs tend to be just about equal. === Rakshasas === Rakshasas use sex as only a way to experience ''all'' aspects of the decadent lifestyles they desire, enjoying keeping sex slaves and tying captives in sexual positions to frazzle their nerves and weaken them further. === Treants === Treants don't have sexuality ''per se'', but when presented with a pairing of the opposite gender (as much as Treants ''have'' gender, anyways), they are occasionally known to 'mate' by cross-pollination, deriving pleasure not from the act itself, but from an exchange of songs, poetry, and praise for one another. This is extremely rare, but tends to result in hundreds of 'children' - in this case, mostly trees with one or two new treants. === Troglodytes === Thankfully, Troglodytes are rarely attracted to other species - because their stench - actually their primary sexual pheromone! - tends to drive off any attempt at getting a non-Troglodyte mate. They tend to be patriarchal, with your status within a tribe being proportionate to the size of your harem (or for females, the harem you belong to). They fight over each other's harems, to the point of finding combat arousing - resulting in the stench. === Vampires === Vampires have a strong sexuality - and associate draining others and turning them into vampires with it. They desire to seduce others into willingly accepting the kiss of death, tending to do so with a strong romantic flair. They are fully capable of traditional sex, this being one of the relatively few consistent vestiges of their old nature. === Yuan-Ti === Yuan-Ti are a mix of human sexuality and horrific evil tendencies. They enjoy the company of snakes, and mate regularly. However, they are incapable of truebreeding, only breeding with humans resulting in humans. Abominations alone can breed true.
