''Breath Weapon (Pr):'' A forge dragon has a breath weapon: a ranged touch attack of molten metal that deals 1d12 fire and bludgeoning damage per Hit Die the forge dragon possesses. Half the damage (round up) is fire; the other half (round down) is bludgeoning. For the purposes of overcoming damage reduction, a forge dragon's breath weapon is considered magic.

A target struck by a forge dragon's breath weapon must make a Fortitude save on its turn each round thereafter, to a maximum number of rounds equal to the forge dragon's Constitution modifier: a failed save inflicts 1d6 fire damage per point of Constitution modifier the forge dragon possesses and also carries stacking penalties as follows: one failed save reduces all the affected creature's speeds by half; a second failed save reduces all speeds to 0', and the creature is immobilized; a third failed save encases the creature in metal: a creature encased in this way begins to suffocate, may only take purely mental actions, threatens no squares, and automatically fails Reflex saves. Once a creature is encased in metal by failing three saves, the hardened metal must be broken off before the creature can be freed. The metal has hardness 10 and 30 Hit Points per inch of thickness: an encased creature has one inch of hardened metal surrounding them. Once a creature is encased, additional applications of a forge dragon's breath weapon repair the metal encasement, repairing an amount of damage equal to half of the damage the breath weapon would have inflicted. If a creature is affected by two forge dragon breath weapons simultaneously, whichever duration is longer applies, and the ongoing fire damage inflicted is based upon the highest Constitution modifier of all forge dragons involved.

An entrapped creature can break out with a DC 28 Strength check, or other creatures may attempt to break off or melt the metal off of the encased creature. Any physical damage inflicted to the metal also damages the creature encased within for half damage. Energy damage inflicted to the metal also damages the creature encased within for equal damage. Determine the damage a creature encased receives after reducing damage from hardness. Spells or effects that specifically alter or melt metal but inflict no damage deal 1d8 points of damage per caster level of the originating effect to the encased creature. The damage is magic piercing and slashing if it shapes or manipulates metal, and is fire damage if it melts metal. In the case of an effect that has no caster level but still manipulates or melts metal, substitute the source's Hit Dice for caster level when determining damage.
