A creature affected by this ability can escape the molten metal with a Acrobatics check (DC 10 + the dragon's Hero Value + its Constitution modifier) or can break the hardening metal off of them with a Strength check (DC 10 + the dragon's Hero Value + its Constitution modifier + 4): a successful check in either instance ends the affect immediately. Once a creature is encased in metal by failing three saves, the hardened metal must be broken off before the creature can be freed. The metal has hardness 10 and 30 Hit Points per inch of thickness: an encased creature typically has one inch of hardened metal surrounding them. Once a creature is encased, additional applications of a coin dragon's breath weapon add half an inch of thickness per use. An entrapped creature can break out with a DC 28 Strength check, or other creatures may attempt to break off or melt the metal off of the encased creature. Any physical damage inflicted to the metal also damages the creature encased within for half damage. Energy damage inflicted to the metal also damages the creature encased within for equal damage. Spells or effects that specifically alter or melt metal but inflict no damage deal 1d8 points of damage per caster level of the originating effect. The damage is magic piercing and slashing if it shapes metal, and is fire damage if it melts metal. In the case of an effect that has no caster level but still manipulates or melts metal, substitute the source's Hit Dice for caster level when determining damage.
