{{D20r}} '''Aranea''' are the trickster folk, spawned from the deepest shadows of the greatest metropolises. Blending seamlessly into the societies of other beings, aranea utilize the power of primal fear to further their goals. '''Personality:''' With a reputation as cheats, assassins, and swindlers, many aranea see themselves as weavers, pulling on the threads of society to create a piece that serves themselves alone. Fluid of tongue, aranea rely on language to coerce, influence, and dominate unwary victims. '''Physical Description:''' Being capable to hold multiple forms, some common folk know not what the aranea truly look like. Melding into forms similar to monstrous spiders and humanoids with spider-like features, aranea are able to hide in plain sight, especially within sizeable urban areas. In their true form, aranea resemble attractive, yet somewhat gangly humanoids, with the lower half of a four-legged webspinning spider. Aranea possess milk-white skin and four long fingers that can quickly form into dangerous claws. The thin frames of aranea stand at four and a half to just under five feet, and seem even more lithe by their raven or grey hair which they wear long. Aranea clothe themselves loosely in silk or other fine clothes, but shun jewelry which they find to be gaudy and cumbersome. '''Alignment:''' Aranea act on behalf of themselves and the few who are close to them. Their cutthroat tactics to getting what they want lead many aranea down the path of Neutral Evil. '''Ameena Lands:''' Aranea live in the shadows of large cities. Some hold respectable positions through shop ownership, while others form the back bone of gangs and criminal guilds throughout the land. The populace often know where aranea dwell within their city, yet few can pin down any illicit activities on behalf of the trickster folk. '''Religion:''' The aranea who do end up worshipping deities pay homage to trickster gods or to freer deities of malevolent intent. '''Language:''' Aranea speak Common and Slyvan, but often pick up the languages of local humanoids. ==Player Character Aranea== *-2 Strength, -2 Constitution, +2 Charisma *'''Medium:''' Aranea, being Medium, receive no adjustments based on size *'''Monstrous Humanoid:''' As monstrous humanoids with the shapechanger subtype, aranea are immune to spells and effects that specifically target humanoids. *'''Speed:''' Aranea base land speed is 30 feet. *'''Darkvision''' out to 60’ *'''Focused:''' Aranea receive a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against Enchantment spells and effects. *'''Grave Resolve:''' Aranea subconsciously bend the spirits of the deceased to their bidding. Whenever a creature dies within 10’ of the aranea, she gains 5 temporary hit points and gains a bonus to Will saves equal to her Charisma modifier. Both effects last until the end of her next turn. Additionally, the temporary hit points gained stack with the Medium’s Clutch of the Grave class feature. *'''Natural Agility:''' Aranea, being naturally nimble, receive a +2 racial bonus on Athletics and Acrobatics checks and can use their Strength or Dexterity modifier for either skill, whichever they prefer. *'''Natural Weapons:''' Aranea possess terrible claws. They have two claw attacks that each deal 1d4 damage. When attacking with natural attacks, an aranea uses their claws as their primary natural attack. *'''Inborn Psionics:''' An aranea has a small pool of psionic charges they may tap into daily. An aranea has one charge per three class levels, minimum one. A charge may be spent to activate one of the following psi-like abilities or to power a feat with the [Aranea] descriptor: entangling ectoplasm, prevenom. The manifester level is equal to the aranea's class level. Aranea are adept at weaving both webs and lies, and a hint of venom makes their attacks that much more potent. *'''Change Shape:''' Aranea live multiple lives, as their natural form exists wholly within three unique forms. In addition to her natural form, an aranea can morph into a form resembling a medium monstrous spider. The second form is that of a Small or Medium humanoid; an aranea in its humanoid form always assumes the same appearance and traits. An aranea can alter her form a number of times per day equal to her Charisma modifier and can remain in each form indefinitely. This change in form is a full-round action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity and cannot be dispelled, nor does an aranea revert to her natural form when killed. A true seeing spell, however, reveals her natural form if she is in humanoid or spider form. An aranea can use Malleable Form as per the Change Shape special Ability. *'''Automatic languages:''' Common, Sylvan. Bonus Languages: Any (other than secret languages, such as Druidic) *'''Favored Class:''' Medium.
