Anime d20 Renaissance is meant to be a companion product to D20 Rebirth. As D20 Rebirth seeks to revitalize the mechanics of the d20 system (most commonly enjoyed in the form of Dungeons and Dragons, 3rd edition or 3.5), so does Anime d20 Renaissance seek to revitalize the Anime d20 variant (most commonly enjoyed in the form of Big Eyes, Small Mouth d20, in conjunction with D&D 3rd). This version dumps a lot of Anime d20 assumptions - such as the elimination of gold and items being switched to point-based - in favor of tighter integration with D20 Rebirth and it's assumptions (which are mostly similar to those of the normal d20 system). In addition, it provides character points much more rapidly, but makes many things cost more in turn. Attributes and Defects have been replaced with Tags (which can be massively more ornate than the old Attributes or Defects, loaded to the brim with modifiers), which also replace some Feats, but not Skills. In other words, your copy of the Anime d20 SRD is useless here. Ad20r provides players and DMs with a full-point-buy scheme that is designed to integrate with the d20r mechanics - allowing the creation of all kinds of unusual class combinations and character concepts. It is especially suited to play in Gestalt campaigns, and even includes new variations on Gestalt. This point-buy even goes into things as basic as character stat generation - where the player chooses how much control over stats they are willing to take, or how strong they want the rolls to be (at a cost, of course). The actual rules, in spite of the name "Anime", are universal in nature - regardless of the target tone, the entire system should be usable for any environment the DM pleases. Some more strictly anime-focused content will be provided in addition after completion of the core rules. DISCLAIMERS: These rules carry no guarantee of fitness for use outside of the context of d20r, and only a "We THINK this should be fine!" within. Absolutely all characters that use ANY rules from this sourcebook MUST be double-checked by the DM before being allowed for play. The original rules were made with the assumption that min-maxing and munchkinism are not problems with the game, but with the player. As such, it is virtually guaranteed that there are hundreds of ways to break these rules wide open even without using any homebrew. Thus, be reminded that no ruleset, especially not this one is an excuse for you to be a twinking asshole towards your fellow players or the DM. If your group loves to twink, go nuts. All d20r-compatible content is safe to use with Anime d20r. All content your GM approves is safe to use with Anime d20r (read: most d20 system content should be good to work with). Content for the existing Anime d20 is not guaranteed, AT ALL, to be safe to use. == Sections == * Ad20r:Character Creation Basics - Or, "How insane you'll be at 1st level, and how much worse it'll get over time." * Ad20r:Stat Generation - Or, "The Six Really shiny numbers!" * Ad20r:Races - Or, "Why ear shape matters!" * Ad20r:Classes - Or, "How to sum yourself up in a couple phrases." * Ad20r:Tags - Or, "The stuff that breaks the summary.
