Tags are the things that make a character unique under the Ad20r ruleset. They're what separates you from the 300 other human nonspecialist Wizards at your academy - and what separates any one of them the GM deigns to give Tags to from everyone else. Tags are not always a good thing, though! == Basics == Tags can be generally grouped into three major categories: * Buff Tags COST character points but give the player benefits. * Mixed Tags may COST or GIVE character points, but have both benefits and costs. * Nerf Tags GIVE character points but mean that the character suffers somehow. Nerf Tags always require a specific check by the DM, particularly if they modify an attribute. Tags are not primarily categorized by source - however, when taking the tag, you must specify its origin. The most common ones are: * Arcane: The magical auras inherent to the world grant you or curse you with this. * Divine: Gods or extreme devotion to a cause define the source of this tag. * Psionic: You got this through some sort of brain-related powers. * Racial: Your non-human nature has this as a handy (or not-so-handy!) side effect. * Talent: You just have a knack for this - or it's something you just don't get... * Technological: Shiny objects, possibly from the future, provide or curse you with this. * Social: Your social life brings this handy tag to you. Once you have taken a tag and named its source, you should take time to refine specifics of how it works - most likely, this will involve taking one or more Modifiers for a tag, which enhance or weaken a tag in some way. If a tag doesn't have a Modifier quite like what you're looking for, then ask the GM to Rule Zero one that suits in. A tag, after all modifiers are applied, should never be free or end up giving you value the opposite of it's norm. That is, a Buff should never give you character points, and Nerf should never cost you character points. If it is, you need to remove or add modifiers until it isn't. Certain tags, in their text, will state that they can ignore this limitation, and Mixed Tags can go either way. == The Actual Tags == # Ad20r:Tags:Buff_A-L # Ad20r:Tags:Buff_M-Z # Ad20r:Tags:Special Attack (Yes, one tag is large enough to need it's own page!!!) # Ad20r:Tags:Mixed # Ad20r:Tags:Nerf
