Monks are proficient in light armour and shields other than tower shields. Note that wearing heavier armour than this precludes the use of certain combat forms. Additionally, many monk combat forms require the use of two hands. ===Martial Path=== On entering this character class, choose which martial path you would like your character to follow. The available paths are as follows: *Unarmed - a master of fighting without weapons. *Sohei - the 'warrior monk', master of fighting with a selection of different weapons. *Soulknife - a powerful warrior who learns to create her own weaponry using psychic essence distilled from her mind. *Assassin - a martial artist who specialises in stealth, deception, and murder. Each path grants a fundamental ability, a fundamental combat style, and access to three further styles. ====Unarmed==== '''Fundamental Ability''': The unarmed monk is skilled at fighting without equipment. She receives Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat. In addition, she may take either Two-Weapon Fighting OR Power Attack as a second bonus feat. The prerequisites for these feats are waived for a monk following this path. In addition, the unarmed strikes of a monk following this path deal d8 (medium) or d6 (small) damage. She may freely choose whether to deal lethal or nonlethal damage with these attacks, and suffers no penalty to hit for either. For purposes of feats and other effects dependent on how she wields a weapon, she treats unarmed strikes as a two-handed double weapon.
